National 990-NAC

As co-sponsors of the 990 In 2000 project, the National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS), and its partner, INDEPENDENT SECTOR, convened the inaugural meeting of the Form 990 Nonprofit Accountability Collaborative (990-NAC) on October 14, 1998.

Also known as the National 990-NAC, this collaborative develops sector-wide support to improve the quality of reporting on the Form 990. National 990-NAC participants are representatives from numerous nonprofit organizations, the IRS, state regulators, the accounting profession, and researchers.

ACTIVITIES

• Adopt the Quality Form 990 Resolution

• Disseminate information about the importance of Form 990 through newsletters, memos, presentations at conferences, and other public forums.

• Advocate implementation of the Unified Financial Reporting System For Not-For-Profit Organizations: A Comprehensive Guide.
