Goals of Quality 990 Efforts
All nonprofits understand and prepare a complete, accurate, consistent and timely Form 990 that can be used as an effective research and accountability tool by regulators, donors, legislators, the nonprofit sector and the general public.
- Increase understanding and compliance with IRS regulations regarding Form 990 disclosure by nonprofit organizations.
- Improve the quality of information that nonprofits report on their Form 990.
- Inform the public about Form 990 and its useful information.
- Increase the quantity, improve the quality, expand the use, and reduce the cost of useful, policy-relevant data on the nonprofit sector through standardization and effective use of information technology. (See: Planning for the Revolution in Nonprofit Data)
